The "Old Man of the Mountain" was once a 40 foot high, 25 foot wide granite rock formation looking strikingly like a profile of an older man. The formation fell from its perch on Cannon Mountain in 2003 after, it is said, having stood guard above Franconia Notch since the glacial period.
